Our Vision
Eternal life in the family of God, serving with
Christ in His Kingdom, helping to bring others into the
family of God. (1 John 3:1-2, 1 Corinthians 15:22-24,
Revelation 1:6)
Our Mission
-
To take
advantage of the opportunities given to us to proclaim,
collectively and individually, the "Good News of the
Kingdom of God;" to make disciples of all people, to
baptize them, and to teach them the teachings of Jesus.
(Matthew 28:19-20)
-
To create
a warm and loving environment in our local congregation,
which will enhance each and every person's spiritual
maturing, and enable each person to use his or her
God-given talents in a mutually beneficial way. The
environment should be uplifting, inspiring and
motivational to all individuals in the congregation.
(Hebrews 10:24-25, Philippians 4:8, 1 John 2:8-10)
-
For all
members of the congregation to find ways to help each
other "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ" through continually growing in
Biblical understanding, fellowship opportunities, and
living God's way of love toward Him and others. (Matthew
6:33, 2 Peter 3:18, 2 Timothy 3:16)
Summary of beliefs
- There is one God and Father of
all, who is above all, immortal and eternal.
- Jesus Christ, as the Word, existed in the beginning, as God, with the Father, and shared the
Father's glory. He voluntarily gave up that glory to
become the Son of God, live a sinless human life and be
crucified, after which he was resurrected and ascended
to heaven. He will return to restore the government of
God to the earth and establish the Kingdom of God, which
will last forever.
- The Holy Spirit is the gift of
God, power of God, and presence of God in believers.
- The Scriptures, both Old and New
Testaments, are the divinely inspired and authoritative
Word of God containing the revelation of God essential
for salvation.
- Angels are spirit beings, created
by God to serve Him and assigned by God to serve those
who will receive salvation. Disobedient (or fallen)
angels are called demons, and their leader, Satan the
devil, is the accuser of the brethren, and deceiver of
all mankind.
- Humans were created in the image
of God for the purpose of becoming His children, yet
have no eternal life apart from God's gift. Humans are
free to make choices, and since all have sinned, death
now reigns over all mankind.
- Man's only hope for life beyond
the physical lies in a resurrection from the dead. Those
who are in Christ (dead or alive) will be resurrected to
spirit life at his return. A second resurrection, one
thousand years later, will provide an opportunity to
accept Christ to those who previously lived without
having that opportunity. The punishment for those who
refuse to repent is death.
- The Ten Commandments summarize the
eternal law of God, and are in full force under the new
covenant, being written in the hearts of believers.
- Repentance involves remorse for
past sins and a resolve to walk according to the eternal
law of God- a process known as conversion.
- Baptism by immersion is a
commanded ordinance outwardly demonstrating a believer's
repentance of sin and acceptance of the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ. The believer receives the gift of the Holy
Spirit through the laying on of hands.
- Salvation is the deliverance from
sin and death, and it is a gift of God personally
received through a believer's faith in God.
- The spiritual body of all
believers, whose Head is Christ, is called the church,
and it is commissioned to make disciples.
- The Sabbath (seventh day) is a
weekly holy day for rest from work, and participation in
collective worship and fellowship.
- The annual festivals given by God
to Israel are illustrative of God's plan, were kept by
Jesus and the early church, and will be observed in the
future. It therefore follows that they are to be kept
today.
